Exits Stealth Mode Into the Public Eye

HemoCleanse, Inc. Announces the Spin-Out of Ash Access Technology, Inc.

New Company To Focus on Catheter, Vascular Access Products

Tuesday, October 23, 2003 7:40 AM EST - - - Today HemoCleanse Inc., a Lafayette, Indiana developer of extracorporeal and vascular access medical devices, announced the spin-out of its wholly owned subsidiary, Ash Access Technology, Inc., to its shareholders. The transaction was made internally on July 1, 2003, and is being announced to the public today. This strategic move was made to provide focus and resources for the company’s catheter-related business which includes many vascular and peritoneal access technologies.

Mr. Robert B. Truitt, President and CEO of both HemoCleanse, Inc. and Ash Access Technology, Inc., said, "We are very excited about the potential Ash Access Technology has for becoming a leader in the development and commercialization of products which provide a ‘total solution’ for complications of blood and peritoneal access, common in both hemodialysis and ICU patients. Ash Access products target the two major problems of central venous access - catheter-related bloodstream infections and blood flow failures."

For the last five years, Ash Access has been developing these new technologies which include unique catheter designs, catheter lock solutions, and catheter impregnation processes. Truitt said, "The spin-out of Ash Access is a continuation of our strategy to focus commercialization of our many HemoCleanse technologies in separate entities which provide a better environment for commercialization and increased financing flexibility."

HemoCleanse, Inc. was co-founded by Truitt and Dr. Stephen R. Ash, Chairman and Director, Research and Development, in 1989. Dr. Ash who holds the same positions in Ash Access Technology is a practicing nephrologist with the Arnett Clinic in Lafayette, Indiana, and he is a world-recognized researcher in extracorporeal devices, sorbent chemistry, and vascular and peritoneal access devices. HemoCleanse and Ash Access Technology are located in Lafayette, Indiana at the INOK Business Center.
